Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

Stored in your air conditioner’s coils, refrigerants are liquids that cool and dehumidify your air. Without refrigerants, air conditioning would not be possible. Over the years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce due to its damage to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo decrease environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now engineered to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and is free of chlorine, which means it’s ozone-friendly. You can feel at ease using this refrigerant in West Palm Beach because it’ll help make your AC operate efficiently, reliably and quietly, and deliver the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was manufactured prior to 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You may want to think about upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is totally out of production. The old refrigerant will become scarce in the next few years, costing you more to operate your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Arnold's Air Conditioning of South Florida Inc work with R-410A, so you know we have an AC or heat pump more suited to your needs. You should also refrain from using”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
